Part of the rich tradition of yoga includes generous, compassionate action. This is part of the practice~ just like asana and pranayama~ that we train in. Seva trains us to see how interconnected we all are, and how helping another is helping our self, and vice versa. We invite you to join in as you feel called, to offer of yourself what you can to soften stresses on marginalized populations in our neighborhood and beyond.
"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion." -Dalai Lama
Fall 2018 SEVA:
Join us as we support 13 year old Amy Lee, a Clark County teen, in her quest to offer free food and essentials to neighbors in need. Amy created the "Little Pantry", a free closet for anyone to take anything they need. The "Little Pantry" is open and free to the public, and lives in the parking lot of the Hockinson Community Church. When you come to class, you are welcome to bring in donations of food, hygiene items, clothes or blankets. We will be making weekly deliveries from our studio to Amy's "Little Pantry". We can help our neighbors. It is difficult to think clearly about how to make your life better when you are cold, wet, dirty and/or hungry. Many of our community folks live in their cars, or sleep on a couch or in a public space. May all beings be happy and free. One step at a time. Namaste.
